Naskish “Kisha” Jackson-Grant, since 1995 has been a pillar in the community as she has worked with youth from ages 6-19, coordinating talent events, being a second mom to some, and a mentor to others. Naskish started out working in the community volunteering with the youth and opening lines of communications where the youth could use their talents as a way of self expression and tools to further education. Naskish says “For anybody to get anywhere in life you have to use the talents you have, take the education that’s given to you and use it as your stepping stool towards success”. It was Naskish love for working with youth and her dedication to see that they excelled in life and knew they had options with a bright future ahead. Naskish believes in letting the youth show the inner self and express what they feel from the inside and bring it to life with their talents. Naskish encourages and support all youth to strive for excellence.

Education

During her tenure of youth support and encouragement Naskish also joined APEX Team of professions servicing the under privilege and at risk youth of today. A.P.EX. utilizes service and project based learning to encourage and promote leadership and career development. Career Development is enhanced through internships, Career Day, Mentors and College Prep workshops lead by professionals. Naskish’s provided services include Leadership Development encouraged through youth lead guided forums. Her services also focus on the development and improvement of children and youth academic performance, self esteem, maturity, confidence, hidden talents, emotional growth and scholastic success.

Entertainment

Naskish began hosting her very own Talent & Fashion Events in 1997. Her life long dream included starting a performing Arts Organization which would support and encourage young great talent. For years Naskish continued to host such events until she was discovered by the CEO of Trio Entertainment.

In January of 2006 Naskish began perusing her dream and Trio Entertainment became a part of her life.  The CEO of Trio Entertainment & of McQueen Media (Soulgee) offered her to work with his company as the Talent Project Manger / V.P.  It was there that she began her career in performing arts. After getting into the swing of things Naskish had her own ideas which she believed was ready to emerge. At that point she knew then that she was ready to bring her vision to life and the birth of SOYTA began.

Later that same year Naskish founded the S.O.Y.T.A program (Saving Our, Youth, Through, Arts), where she continues to provide performing arts programs for youth to express their inner beauty & talents while also furthering their education. In 2007 the S.O.Y.T.A program presented “Hollywood” Brooklyn Style where youth of all ages performed different skits, imitating some of their favorite celebrity performers while also walking in a fashion show, showing some of the hottest new trends to come. The youth says “Mrs. Grant you are the best”. Naskish can not walk in her community with out being stopped by people letting her know how much their looking forward to the next event, and their plans for the future, as she is totally loved by parents and children.

In November of 2008, Naskish along with the S.O.Y.T.A program presented, for the first time “Little Miss Trio, A pageant comes to Brooklyn ” where young girls from ages 3-11 performed their best and introduced their talent with hopes of becoming Little Miss Trio, T.R.I.O meaning, Truly, Real, Inside & Out. This was a pink carpet event that was dedicated to all the young women involved while showing the world their excellence and all they could be.  The girls were set up in 3 divisions according to their age groups. There were lots of awards /prizes given away.

Our pageant event continues annually in November.

Today over 30 girls ranging in ages from 1-12 participate in the LMT pageant ,

and is now divided into (5) divisions

2 & under Tiny Tots, 3-4 Sweethearts, 5-7 Princess, 8-10 Dolls, 11-12 Misses. Little Miss Trio was one of the first urban youth events to hit Brooklyn and will continue to host events as such encouraging and supporting our rising stars of the future.

Naskish believes your path to success is with determination, having a plan, and following through with your plans, and this is the message that she will continue to spread.
